The Local Playoff Picture Heading Into Week 10

  Original Published: 10/27/2013With the final week of the regular season in football coming up on Friday, the local playoff picture is beginning to take shape. In Division II, Region 5 at 9-0 for the first time in school history, the Mansfield Senior Tygers are in the playoffs, and according to Joe Eitel have clinched a home game for the first time since 2000 when they played host to Canton Glenoak. The Tygers will host 3-6 rival Madison Friday at Arlin Field in an effort to go 10-0 for the first time in school history. In Division 3, Region 8, the 8-1 Norwalk Truckers are second and are in the playoffs, they play 1-8 Willard Friday to close out the regular season. In Division 4, Region 12, Galion at 8-1 is 8th and controls their on destiny. The Tigers play host to 7-2 Upper Sandusky Friday. The Rams still have an outside shot at the post season with a win at Galion. In Division 5, Region 16, Loudonville at 8-1 is ranked 7th. The Redbirds host 1-8 Shelby on Friday. In Division 6, Region 20, Colonel Crawford at 8-1 is second and has clinched a playoff spot. The Eagles will play 1-8 Crestline Friday. In Division 7, Region 23, Norwalk St.Paul at 8-1 is second and is in the playoffs and will be at home in week 11. The Flyers play 1-8 Monroeville Saturday night. Also in Region 23, Mapleton at 6-3 is ranked 6th and according to Joe Eitel is in the playoffs. The Mounties will close the regular season against 6-3 Western Reserve. Four teams sit in the 9th spot heading into their final games. In Division 2, Region 5, 6-3 Ashland plays 1-8 Lexington Friday. In Division 4, Region 12, 7-2 Upper Sandusky plays at 8-1 Galion. A win by the Rams could put them in the playoffs and knock the Tigers out. In Division 6, Region 21, 5-4 Fredericktown will play 1-8 Ridgedale. And, in Division 7, Region 23, 5-4 Plymouth plays 4-5 Crestview to close out the season. This coming Sunday morning, November 2, the top eight teams in each region will begin preparing for the OHSAA football playoffs the weekend of November 8th and 9th. Divisions 2,3,4,and 6 will play at 7:30 Friday. Division 1,5 and 7 on Saturday at 7pm. The top four teams in each region will host in week 11.
