Original Published: 11/2/2013Authorities have  arrested a suspect in connections to a possible burglary earlier Friday afternoon. Richland County Sheriff's Office Maj. Dale Fortney said Gary Biggs, 34, was believed to have stolen several firearms. The suspect refused to acknowledge police presence or answer the door when he was located at 1502 Pear Place. Biggs reportedly has an extensive criminal history, which led to a SWAT team being dispatched to the 1500 block of Pear Place for the safety of the officers and civilians involved. A hostage negotiation team was also sent to the residence. Biggs, was taken into custody around midnight after a two-hour standoff with police. Biggs surrendered to police after SWAT probed the exterior of the house and ordered him to comply. He went without incident. Biggs is now facing a charge of burglary, and may face additional charges at a later time. Richland County Sheriff's deputies, Ontario Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, ASORT and hostage negotiators all responded to the scene.
