  Original Published: 11/5/2013Mansfield City Council's 3rd Ward council race had two new candidates on the ballot to replace Republican Scott Hazen who decided not to run for another term in office. Democrat Jon VanHarlingen, a retired city worker defeated Republican, Jamie Thompson, the co-director of Downtown Mansfield Inc. by more than 57 percent of the vote. In the At-Large race voters elected Republican Cliff Mears over Democrat Cynthia Baker. Mears was appointed to council to replace Doug Versaw.
