Original Published: 11/6/2013 The city of Mansfield's request for an extra quarter-percent income tax was passed by voters Tuesday and Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker couldn't be happier. Mayor Theaker thanks the voters and everyone who helped to get the issue passed, saying it shows the community is proving the city has started to turn things around and help is needed to move it forward. Mayor Theaker says the city engineer has already begun the paperwork with FirstEnergy to get the street lights turned back on. A total of 766 of Mansfield's 5,200 street lights were turned off temporarily as part of the city's cost-cutting efforts to work toward getting out of fiscal emergency.
