An automatic teller machine may soon be installed in the Richland County Courthouse. Advantage Credit Union is proposing to the commissioners to install the ATM on the main floor, in front of a wall next to their office. The ATM would be maintained regularly, with the help of a security guard. It would handle transactions free of charge for members of Alliance One credit unions, which includes Advantage and Directions. Other customers would pay a fee. Advantage will prepare a three-year contract, which would include an up-front fee to cover any expense to the county, such as electricity. The county recorder and treasurer say they support the idea, because they often have people who want to pay cash for fees to those offices.
