Two Richland County government buildings need new air conditioning systems, or they will be mighty hot next summer. So, the commissioners opened bids Tuesday for new chillers for the courthouse and Park Building next door, which houses the prosecutor's office and Ohio Adult Parole Authority. The up-front cost for the chillers would be $500,000, but they would save money on electricity. Engineer Dave Metzger of M.G. Energy hopes the chillers can pay for themselves in five to seven years. The county would also get a $5000 rebate from Ohio Edison. Metzger will review the three bids, and make a recommendation to the commissioners next week.
