The District Five Area Agency on Aging celebrated a successful year with its annual meeting Thursday at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center in Mansfield. The noon-hour meeting attracted 350 people including employees and board members, elected officials, and partner agencies from its nine-county region. C.E.O. Duana Patton says the highlights of this year were renewal of the senior services levy, and moving into the former Hawkins Market building, now called Hawkins Corner, at Park Avenue West and Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario. She says 2014 looks to be a busy and productive year for the Agency on Aging, as it adds services for growing numbers of seniors. The annual meeting included the presentations of several awards, including one for Shelby Mayor Marilyn John as Elected Official of the Year. Former Agency on Aging board member and long-time supporter Carol Michaels was inducted into the agency's Hall of Fame.
