The holidays are a busy time of year..and while you're hurrying from one place to the next, it's important to remember to buckle up.

Keep your focus on the driving and not the destination. Don't let passengers distract you, especially when driving through rough weather.

Wear your seat belt! It's the most effective way to save your life. According to the NHTSA, seat belts saved almost twelve thousand lives in 2011.

Nighttime is an especially dangerous time because people are less likely to wear a seat belt. In 2011, sixty-two percent of the almost eleven thousand passenger vehicle occupants who were killed in nighttime crashes, were not wearing their seat belts compared to forty-three percent during the daytime hours.

With the help of highway safety advocates and local law enforcement officers around the country, we can increase seat belt use and save lives on our roadways.
