A Mansfield man was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run auto-pedestrian accident. Police say 56-year-old Franklin Smith of Ross Road was walking across Park Avenue West near Helen Avenue at 8pm, when he was hit by a westbound vehicle which fled the scene. Smith was found in the right lane. He died about fifteen minutes later, according to the Richland County Coroner's office. Police later found the driver of the blue, 2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, 49-year-old Rebecca Myers of Harvard Avenue. She was given a blood test for alcohol use, and has not been charged, while the investigation is completed. The accident report will be sent to the law director for consideration of charges.
