Fire engulfed a mobile home in Mansfield Thursday afternoon, leaving a couple homeless. The blaze was reported at 1:25 pm at 1323 Steeplechase Drive in Woodside Estates Mobile Home Park off of Longview Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and an injured woman. Assistant Chief Jim Bishop says the trailer is a total loss. He believes the fire was caused by a space heater but that has not been confirmed. The homeowner Thomas Vance escaped unharmed, but his wife Diana was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns to her face and head. Vance says they can stay with relatives, although the Richland County chapter of the American Red Cross was called to the scene to provide the couple with any help they need.
