Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker has made a decision on who will become the city's new police chief. It is Captain Ken Coontz, after Deputy Chief Tobie Smith declined the job. She told the mayor she will retiring in a couple of months, and did not want to take the chief's job only to disrupt the police department again. Coontz will be sworn-in Wednesday at 11 am in city council chambers on the third floor of city hall. He replaces Dino Sgambellone, who took the job as police chief of Los Alomos County New Mexico.
