Local Civil Rights Pioneer Passes Away

A local civil rights pioneer known for his compassion for all people has passed away.

Rev. Henry Washington died Monday in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 91.

Washington served six terms on Mansfield City Council. He also served on the city's human relations committee and was the former president of the Mansfield chapter of the NAACP.

Washington also ministered at Alpha and Omega Church of God in Christ.
