Bond Set For Man Charged With Kidnapping And Raping Teen

A $100,000 cash bond has been set for a man accused of kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl.

Tyler Smith, 23, is being held in the Richland County Jail. According to Mansfield Police he was arrested Monday evening.

Authorities say the teen was a runaway who met up with Smith. Authorities say Smith held the girl against her will for 12 days in an abandoned house in Mansfield.

The teen was able to get his cellphone, text her mother, who picked her up and contact police.

Smith pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment. His is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 26 for a preliminary hearing.
