Clean-up work is underway for the recent oil spills in Trinidad and Tobago that are threatening residents and marine life along the country's southwestern coast. Five separate oil spills have taken place along the southwestern coast of the energy-rich southern Caribbean nation since December 17, seriously affecting residents and marine life and polluting the environment. Fumes from the leaked oil have also caused nausea and headaches among residents, with 25 hospitalized, said local media. Doctors and ambulances have been posted in the affected areas to provide quick responses if people feel sick. State-owned fuel company Petrotrin has cordoned off the heavily polluted areas and is carrying out the clean-up operation.
