Ship Crew In Antarctica Prepare For Helicopter Rescue

Dozens of people awaiting rescue in Antarctica are getting ready for New Year's. The 74 passengers and crew members will have to wait for the weather to improve before a helicopter can mount a rescue. Their ship got caught in unusually thick ice. It hasn't moved in a week, and ice-breaker ships haven't been able to reach it without risking getting stuck themselves. A helicopter will take 52 passengers, one dozen at a time, to another ship. The 22 crew members will remain on board.
