METRICH and Mansfield Police arrested a man on charges of operating a meth lab at 8 pm Tuesday. Officers received a complaint of meth being made while children were present, at 87 Lexington Avenue. They were given permission to search the upstairs apartment, and found a meth lab in the attic. The building was evacuated and a member of the Clandestine Lab Response Team neutralized the chemicals and ingredients. 34-year-old Nicholas Mchugh was arrested and charged with Ilegal Assembly or Possession for the Manufacturing of Drugs, a first-degree felony due to two small children being in the home. METRICH says the chemical fumes produced from a meth lab can be harmful to anyone exposed to them. Signs of meth lab chemical exposure include itching or burning skin and eyes, difficulty breathing, or tightness in the chest. Report suspected drug activity by calling 419-52-CRIME.
