Richland Carrousel held their "Grand Reopening" over the weekend after regular maintenance and repair. The grand reopening featured a "pirate" theme, complete with "Pirate Joe" and his "crew" of assorted staff members. Even the carousel's directors got in on the fun, whether applying temporary pirate-themed tattoos to patrons or putting on their best pirate impressions.

Willie Hunn, director of the carrousel, mentioned a few of the renovations they made: "While we were closed, they came in and took off the chariots, which were refurbished, repainted, re-varnished, and they are absolutely beautiful." She mentions that the chariots were also re-upholstered. The chariots were a big part of their repair project not only because they look great, but also because they allow handicapped riders to ride the carrousel.

"We've also re-varnished all of the walls, everything is clean and sparkling, ready for customers," added Sharon Bishop, co-director.
