Shooting leads to attempted murder charge

A Mansfield man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting Sunday.

Sherrick Hunter, 25, was arrested in connection with the shooting of Corey Motley, 32.

Police say Motley was shot during an altercation in the 500 block of North Trimble Road. Motley told police Hunter shot him and stole his money and wallet.

Motley was transported to MedCentral Mansfield Hospital for a gunshot wound.

Hunter was also charged with misdemeanor charges of falsification and disorderly conduct while intoxicated and three counts of failure to appear in court on unrelated incidents.

Hunter was taken to the Richland County Jail.
