Mansfield native announces run for 2nd Ohio District Seat

Mansfield native Don Bryant II, has announced his 2014 candidacy for the Ohio House of Representatives District 2 seat.

Bryant, 28, has developed solid experience in two key areas: educating children and serving the community. Bryant's goals are ensuring every child has access to a quality education and economic development.

Bryant served as an assistant to the city of Mansfield Mayor from 2008-2010. He gained city-wide support with the creation of the Mayor's Education Task Force.

Since 2009, Bryant has worked with the Mansfield City Schools in many capacities. He was a English/Language Arts Teacher, Teaching Assistant, member of the building leadership team at Mansfield Integrated Learning Center, his current role is a Reading/Literacy Instructor, providing reading support for at-risk students.

Bryant volunteers his time assisting in literacy activities at The DeWald Community Center.

During his 2008 fellowship with the U.S. Senate, Bryant served as a legislative correspondent, education research assistant, and general staff assistant. In 2008, as part of the Clinton Global Initiative, Bryant developed a plan to transform the behavorial environment for K-12 schools dealing with students who have high behavorial issues.

In 2010, Bryant took part in the Governor's Roundtable, a two-day meeeting with 14 city-mayors, 4 gubernatorial assistants and the Governor, regarding economic development and renewal of city partnerships. In 2010 he joined the Ohio House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide.

Bryant is a graduate of Mansfield Senior High. He holds a B.S. degree in Political Science from Ohio State University and M.S. degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University.

Republican, Mark Romanchuk, of Mansfield, currently represents the 2nd Ohio House District.
