The Shelby YMCA held an open house Saturday afternoon. The activity center, now helmed by a young, eager staff, is kicking off its new programs with a bang.

"We're trying to showcase what we do here," said Kim Stover, executive director. "We're giving free tours away, along with some gifts and prizes."

Eric Finn, the program director, made a note of all the new things the center has to offer. "We've got a lot of new equipment in our workout room, we've got karate we just started up, adult karate, as well as an adult basketball league, youth basketball, soccer, t-ball... you name it, we'll try to do it here at the Y."
