Women's heart health will be the focus of a special lecture presented by Dr. Melissa Juliano on Thursday, Feb. 20, as part of a MedCentral’s National Heart Month observances. The title of Dr. Juliano’s topic is “The Beat of a Woman’s Heart: Beyond the Bikini Approach.”

According to statistics kept by the Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department, heart disease is the number one killer of women in Richland County. In 2013, coronary heart disease caused the deaths of 203 women and 194 men.

The American Heart Association also has statistics which indicate heart-related issues top the list of illnesses most fatal for women. Heart disease claims more lives among women than all forms of cancer combined.

Registration is encouraged for the free hour-long program which will begin at 5 p.m. at MedCentral’s Primary Care/Women’s Health office at 1020 Cricket Lane, off South Trimble Road, in Mansfield.

Guests may register between 4:15 and 4:45 p.m. For more information, call 419-526-8877.
