Sheriff Assigns Deputy Full-Time To METRICH

The Richland County Sheriff's office has not had a deputy assigned full-time to METRICH, since the deputy who was working with the drug task force retired last April. But Tuesday, Sheriff Steve Sheldon announced he has assigned 23-year veteran Deputy Steve Schivinski to METRICH. METRICH covers ten north-central Ohio counties, emcompassing forty police and sheriff departments. Not all of them have officers assigned full-time, but Mansfield Police Chief and METRICH Project Director Ken Coontz hopes more will do so as the economy improves and more officers become available.
