Chitwood selected to fill vacant council at large seat

Neil Chitwood has been selected by the Republican Party of Richland County Central Committee to fill the vacant Council At Large seat on Ontario City Council.

Chitwood was one of ten candidates considered to fill the unexpired term following the January 20 resignation of Roger Heston.

Chitwood serves as Public Works Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, 412th Civil Affairs Battalion, with a rank of major. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelors of Science degrees in Systems Engineering-Leadership and Management.

Chitwood was deployed in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Chitwood also co-owns and operates Team Chitwood Martial Arts in Columbus and Lexington.

"My experience as an Army officer and small business operator has given me the tools to become a valuable asset to Ontario City Council and the Richland County Republican Party," Chitwood said.

Chitwood and his wife Megan, have three children and are members of Ontario Christian Fellowship.
