Confused Driver Causes Accident On U.S. 30

A two vehicle accident occured on U.S. Route 30, that nearly landed an elderly couple in the hospital and put a semi into a ditch.

Seventy-six-year-old Kay Hoeffler and 81-year-old passenger John Ferguson were headed to dinner at the Ontario Applebees Thursday night and tried to turn around in their 2013 Camaro after making a wrong turn onto the Interstate.

Officer Adam Henry with the Ontario Police Department says "The Camaro was coming onto 30 west bound, came to a complete stop and made a left hand turn east bound on the west bound lanes."

Henry says a semi truck then struck the vehicle, landing the semi in a ditch.

No injuries occurred in the accident, which Henry says could have been devastating.
