METRICH commander promoted to deputy chief of police

  Original Published: 2/14/2014The Mansfield Police Department has a new Deputy Chief of Police. Lt. Keith Porch, 39, has been appointed to the position. Mayor Tim Theaker and Chief Ken Coontz announced the appointment Thursday. Porch is the Task Force Commander of the METRICH Enforcement Unit. Porch began his career with the Richland County Sheriff's Office before joining the Mansfield Police Department in 1999. Porch was promoted to Sergeant in 2009 and then promoted to Lieutenant in May 2013. Porch is also a former ASORT/SWAT team member, Field Training Officer and is the department's Crisis Management Commander. "Lieutenant Porch has 20 years of law enforcement experience and will be a great assest to the Police Administration," Chief Coontz said. Porch will be sworn in by the Safety Service Director Lori Cope on Tuesday, March 4 at 1 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
