The month of February is National Pet Dental Health Month, and Veterinarian's are encouraging pet parents to practice good dental hygiene. The same rules apply for pets as they do for people. Diabetes, inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases can be worsened by dental disease. Dr. Susan Burkhart from the Animal Medical Center of Ontario, says bad breath can be an easy to spot symptom of dental problems.

She demonstrated how simple it is to take care of your pet's teeth. If they don't like the toothbrush method, you can give your pet special treats or even a fluoride wash that dissolves in their water. Dr. Burkhart says everyone should be brushing their pet's teeth. It's a simple and easy way to keep problems from happening.
