The Shelby Area Democratic Club invited House of Representatives candidate Don Bryant to be the featured speaker at their monthly meeting Thursday evening, but the 28-year-old first time political candidate actually did most of the listening.

In just his second public function while running for office, the Mansfield native paid close attention to the public's main concerns. Bryant says during the primary process, he is looking to gather as much "input as possible from voters".

Bryant says he "believes in listening to people" and will look to "drive ideas into actions." Bryant also says he will need to introduce himself to thousands of voters in the county to "provide value and a reason why they should elect me their next state representative."

The Mansfield School District teacher says he's an "every day average guy in Richland County" that will "build partnerships and coalitions in our state legislature and just fight for the people."
