Commissioners Mull Electricity Rates For New Contract

Richland County government needs a new electricity supplier contract come June first, so the commissioners are getting started on finding the best deal they can. They met Tuesday morning with officials of the consulting firm Palmer Energy, and were told the price of electricity is rising, but buying it as part of a large consortium will keep the cost increase much less than it otherwise would be. The commissioners are considering two electricity suppliers for the new three-year contract, and are awaiting a final recommendation from Palmer Energy on which one offers the better rate.
