The Mansfield Police Department now has a new second in command with Lt. Keith Porch being promoted to Deputy Chief of Police.

A promotional ceremony was held Tuesday in Mansfield City Council Chambers as Lt. Porch was administered the oath of office by Mansfield Safety-Service Director Lori Cope.

Deputy Chief Porch says he's ready to assume his new responsibilities and to work hand-in-hand with Mansfield Police Chief Ken Coontz, who says he will be a great asset to the police department.

Deputy Chief Porch currently serves as the METRICH Enforcement Unit's Task Force Commander who began his service with the Mansfield Police Department in February of 1999. He began his law enforcement career with the Richland County Sheriff's Office in 1994.
