An elderly couple was displaced by a fire that happened around 7:15 Tuesday night at 330 Central Ave. Firefighters stated that upon arrival, they found heavy smoke coming from the front of the structure. The residents were already outside upon arrival of emergency crews.

They were transported to the hospital as a precaution and will be staying with relatives temporarily. A cat was believed to be in the building but could not be located. Engine Companies 1, 2, 6, and Ladder (engine) 4 as well as Rescues 1 and 2 had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes. The fire is currently under investigation.
