The Board of Directors for Avita Health System announces the election of four new Board Members in response to the purchase of the former retail site at the Richland Mall.

The following individuals have been added to the Avita Board: Michael C. O’Donnell of Mansfield, Linda H. Smith of Mansfield, Jeffrey A. Underwood of Ontario, and Donald L. Plotts of Mt. Gilead.

Beginning in November 2013, shortly after Avita’s 17 acre purchase, the Board began searching for two board members from the Richland County area to provide local representation.

“It’s important to Avita that the individuals making the strategic healthcare decisions for our area actually live and work here,” states Doug Schilling, Avita Board Chair. “Local board members are the voice for the community, and they are the ones who should be encouraging healthcare decisions that will ultimately affect them and their families.”

The Avita Board now consists of 20 local active members. The last increase in board members was in 2010, when Avita added four individuals to serve after the acquisition of Bucyrus Hospital.

“With our rapid growth in Richland County, we are committed to serving the healthcare needs of our service area,” comments Schilling. “A solid foundation begins with active and interested citizens.”

Avita’s Board of Directors also announced the re-election of Janet Herman, Kay McDonald, Jason McMullen, and Charles Walker to four year terms on the Board.

Elected as officers in 2014 were Douglas M. Schilling, Chair; Dr. Joseph Shadeed and Jason McMullen, Co-Vice Chairs; Rex A. Cramer, Treasurer; and Linda Chambers, Secretary.
