The Mansfield Tyger boys basketball team won their first district championship since 2006 by downing Perrysburg 43-29 Saturday evening at Bowling Green State University. The Tygers Dejorr Gibson led the way with 17 points as Mansfield improved to 18-7. With the win the Tygers advance to the Division I regional semifinal at the University of Toledo on Wednesday night for a 7pm tip against Toledo Bowsher of the Toledo City League. The Rebels knocked off Toledo St.John's Jesuit by a final of 63-48 at Savage Hall at UT. Bowsher comes in to the semi against Mansfield Senior at 24-2 and has scored over 100 points eight times during the regular season. The Mansfield Senior/Toledo Bowsher winner on Wednesday evening will advance to the D-1 regional final at the University of Akron's James A. Rhodes Arena Saturday at 7pm against the winner of the Cleveland St.Ignatius/Lakewood St.Edward winner being played at Akron on Thursday evening at 7pm.
