Crawford Park District Naturalist Chris Rothhaar held the annual 'Sap to Syrup' event over the weekend at the Carlisle/Patton Sugar Camp. The event invites nature enthusiasts to see how sap is collected from trees around the area, and Rothhaar explains each step of the process, from the sap collection to boiling it into syrup or making sugar from it.

Carlisle's Sugar Camp is currently in its sixth generation in the family. Despite the weather, interested nature enthusiasts showed up to watch the sap-collecting processes.
