Bucks Bounced By Wayne Trace

The Buckeye Central Bucks saw their season end at Bowling Green State University Tuesday night, falling to Wayne Trace 80-51, in the Division IV regional semifinal.

The Bucks jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, but the Raiders answered quickly going on a 19-2 run leading after one period 22-9. The Bucks recovered a bit in the second quarter knocking down 19 points, with BC's Austin Wurm scoring 12 in the first half, but Buckeye Central still trailed at the break 44-28.

Starting the third quarter the Bucks went on a 7-0 run to pull within nine points at 44-35, but a three point play by Corbin Linder put Wayne Trace back up 11 at 49-38 and the Bucks could never get the score under double digits again, trailing 60-44 after the third. To start the fourth quarter the Raiders turned the lights out on Buckeye with a 13-2 run outscoring BC in the final period 20-7 for an 80-51 final.

The Raiders duo of Corbin and Ethan Linder combined for 62 points, with  Corbin dropping 32, Ethan 30. For Buckeye Central Cade Kaple led the way with 21 points followed by Austin Wurm with 15.

The Bucks end their season as NCC, sectional and district champions with a record of 23-3.

Wayne Trace moves on to face undefeated Convoy Crestview (26-0) in the regional final Friday at BGSU at 7 pm.
