Tygers Keep Dancing Into Regional Final

Mansfield Senior advances to the Division I regional championship game at Akron with a 66-50 win over Toledo Bowsher.

The Tygers led from wire to wire, jumping out to a 14-5 advantage after the first and extended their margin over the #8 team in the state to 36-15 at the break.

The Rebels outscored Mansfield Sr 20-13 in the third quarter to close within 49-35, but the Tygers would hold off Bowsher in the fourth to wrap-up a 16 point victory.

Mansfield got a solid game from Naradin James who dropped 19 points on 9/14 shooting, while Mario Davison added 16 pts, Jalen Reese 8 pts & 15 rb's. Nate Allen finished with 22 pts & 8 rb's to pace the Rebels.

The Tygers outrebounded Bowsher 49-36, but were dominated in the turnover margin 19-10.

Mansfield shot 25-20 (50%) for the contest, the Rebels finished just 18-67 (27%) from the floor, including 3-23 from beyond the arc. 

Mansfield Senior (19-7) will play AP #3 Lakewood St. Edward (23-2) Saturday at 7 p.m. at James A. Rhodes Arena (The JAR) on the campus of Akron University.

The Eagles defeated Cleveland St. Ignatius in their regional semi-final 70-59.

The showdown between the Tygers and Eagles will be the WMFD Game of the Week with replays Saturday at midnight. It will also be carried LIVE on WRGM ESPN Radio, 97.3 FM, AM 1440.
