Original Published: 3/18/2014After going 27-4 a season ago winning the NCC, sectional and district championship, the Ontario baseball team will try to repeat as league champions, but instead of the NCC, they'll try to do it in the NOL. Veteran coach Dan Gorbett who returns six lettermen from last spring, says his 2014 squad should be a good hitting team and strong on defense. But pitching is a question mark after losing three front line pitchers from last year's squad who combined to win 38 games over the last two seasons, but Gorbett is quick to add that it appears everyone else in the NOL is in the same boat so the league should be wide open. Right now the toughest adjustment for the team according to Gorbett is trying to get the game timed up inside because of the weather. Ontario will open the season on Saturday, March 29th at home with a double header against Mansfield Senior, weather permitting.
