We now know the cause of death of a Mansfield woman found dead in January outside near her vehicle.

The Richland County Coroner's Office says Nikkie S. Vance, 43, died of hypothermia and other factors related to alcohol and intoxication. Vance was found on January 30 lying in the snow near her car at 327 Wayne St.

Police said Vance was out late into the morning drinking at a bar with her boyfriend. Police said her boyfriend left the bar and returned home to the Wayne Street address.

Authorities believe Vance left the bar a short time later and also returned to the residence. Authorities said it appears that Vance may have fallen several times on the ice and was unable to make it inside the home.
