For the first time since 2007, the Crestline softball team will open the season with a new head coach in Jackie Flinders, a 2005 Crestline graduate who also played on the school's 2004 state championship team.

Flinders takes over for Ron Shumate who retired after last season, following seven season's as head coach of Lady Bulldogs and several more as an assistant.

Flinders welcomes back a squad that returns ten letter winners and finished as Division IV district runners-up to state runner-up Colonel Crawford with an overall record of 15-10.

Flinders says pitching is a bit of a concern with the graduation of Natile Sayre who handled the bulk of the pitching duties the last three years. She would also like to see the team hit for a better average this season, but adds the team's biggest strength is their overall team speed.

Crestline opens the regular season against the Tigers of Seneca East on April 1.
