Original Published: 3/20/2014Ontario City Council had a busy meeting Thursday night. Among the usual reports, a few interesting points stood out. Supporters for "Friends of Maize Memorial Dog Park" asked council to consider putting a dog park in our area. Willa Leer led a group of nearly fifty people, asking the city to pay its portion of the cost for our transit system. Ontario used to pay this, but stopped several years ago. Ontario hasn't funded RCT since. Now RCT is considering stopping bus service to the city if they don't start paying their share. Mayor Hutchinson says he is for public transit, but a reduction in block grants from the Government isn't helping matters. Council said they will take a look at the issue, and try to come to a resolution. Right now, there are no Block Grants available for Ontario to use.
