Original Published: 4/2/2014After getting to the Division II regional final a season ago, the Madison softball team got their season off and running this week with the team opening against an experienced and defending NCC champ Bucyrus, a 7-5 loss for the Rams. But on Tuesday evening Madison picked up their first win in defense of their OCC championship by getting their first win in conference play and season at the expense of rival Mansfield Senior winning 15-0. Led by Chase Carper and Liz Sutter, the Rams pounded out eight hits. Pitcher Paige Carper struck out four, walked four and Madison did not commit an error in the field. For the Tygers, Camesha Carter picked up two hits. Senior High and the Rams are scheduled to wrap up their two game set Wednesday.
