Man Charged With Murder Of Elderly Mount Vernon Woman

A bond hearing was set this morning for 34 year old Tyrone Caldwell. Caldwell is charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. He is being held in the Knox County Jail. Detective Dailey of the Mount Vernon Police Department says additional charges will follow, once the investigation is complete.    

One woman is dead and another injured after an apparent robbery and murder at the Hiawatha Apartment Complex in Mount Vernon. Local police responded to a call early Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, they found 80 year-old Marilyn Ebersol deceased and another woman, identified as her home health aide, injured. According to police, a suspect in the homicide was identified as, 34-year-old Tyrone Caldwell and a search for him and a person of interest began. Caldwell and the person of interest were taken into custody around 11 a.m. A person of interest, a 36-year-old man, was released without charges. Caldwell however, was taken to the Knox County Jail, charged with one count each of aggravated murder and aggravated burglary. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
