A time-honored tradition is underway in Mansfield. The largest and oldest Easter Bake Sale kicked off Wednesday in the basement of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Bake sale coordinator Ann Brown said they expect a large turnout of people this year at the two-day fundraiser for the parish that features homemade candy, ethnic pastries, butter rings and cabbage rolls.

"We try to maintain a tradition of homemade baked goods and ethnic foods that people don't normally make at home," Brown said.

"This project takes four weeks with the help of volunteers. We've made 300 pounds of candy and 4,000 cabbage rolls. We use only the best ingredients for the baked goods," Brown said.

Brown said lunch is served during the bake sale. The bake sale will continue Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds benefit the parish.
