Bond Set For Suspect in Mount Vernon Murder

We now know the official cause of death of an elderly woman found murdered inside her apartment in Mount Vernon.

Knox County Coroner Dr. Jennifer Ogle released the results of the autopsy which states Marilyn J. Eversole, 80, died of loss of blood as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Tyrone Caldwell, 34, of 6 W. Chestnut St., Apt. 1, has been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary. He is being held in the Knox County Jail on a $1 million bond.

According to Mount Vernon police Eversole was found Wednesday morning by her home health aide inside her apartment in Hiawatha Village at 978 Beech St.

Police say the home health aide saw the suspect leaving the apartment with the victim's TV. She was attacked and was found by police on the bathroom floor.
