City of Shelby residents can register for a free community garden space on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to Noon, at Marvin Memorial Library, 29 West Whitney, in Shelby.

The first hour will include discussion of improvements planned for the gardens. If you cannot register in person, please call Christina Thompson at 419-347-5131. Registration will be through Friday, April 25.

The Shelby Community Gardens encompassed about 56,000 square feet with about 40 participants in 2013. Gardens benefited individuals, families and community groups that took the time and money to cultivate their assigned space.

The Shelby Community Gardens provides garden space and water at no charge to residents and local organizations to promote community as well as encourage a healthy lifestyle.
