Arrows Off To Good Start In Softball

  Original Published: 4/10/2014One of the preseason favorites to win the OCC in softball is Ashland and to this point they are living up to the billing standing at 3-0 in conference play 4-1 overall. Veteran coach Bill Herman's team returns only four seniors but has a strong junior class with pitcher Racquel Ward being one of the team leaders. Herman is also looking forward to the full time return of senior second baseman Alex Masters who is returning from reconstructive knee surgery due to an injury in volleyball. The Arrows won the first of two against Orrville on Wednesday pounding out eight hits in a 6-1 win over the Red Riders. Ward struck out six while giving out one free pass while Ashland did not commit an error in the field. Herman feels his team will improve even more as the weather improves. The Lady A's only set back came in a 3-2 loss to Shelby last weekend in a double header.
