Original Published: 4/11/2014After an opening season loss to Mt.Vernon, the Madison baseball nine have run off six straight wins over Mansfield Senior, New Albany and West Holmes to stand at 6-1 in all games, 4-0 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. The Rams won sixth in a row Thursday evening at home 7-3 over the Knights coming back from 2-0 down getting two in the third, three in the fourth and two more in the sixth with pitcher Josh Smith getting the win and Hunter Ackerman getting two hits. Rams coach Doug Rickert says his squad is playing much better defense which makes pitching that much easier. Rickert also makes mention that his team is a year older and more experienced which to this point had made a big difference. The Rams will be back in OCC play next week as they play two against the Clear Fork Colts who as of Thursday evening, stood at 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference after a 3-1 win over Wooster.
