A local VFW post held a spaghetti dinner benefit to raise awareness and donations for autism over the weekend.

"It offers awareness," said Jeff Mapes, President of the Men's Auxiliary of VFW Post 3494. "People get out that are not sure about autistic children, and it gives them awareness and a place to go to understand what it's all about."

This year marks the 8th consecutive year the benefit has been held, and Mapes hopes to hold even more in the following years.
