Richland County community leaders have some new ideas to consider, as they pursue economic growth for an area hit hard by the recession, job losses, and a population decline.

Nineteen students in a City and Regional Planning studio class at Ohio State University in Columbus Tuesday presented growth and development goals for Richland County, before an audience of local officials at OSU-Mansfield and North-Central State College.

The recommendations include improving employment and housing opportunities that would attract young college-graduate professionals. Accomplishing these goals would require a large financial investment. Ohio State's Fisher College of Business will take on the task of developing a financing plan.
