The Unites States Supreme Court ruled to uphold Michigan's voter-approved affirmative action *ban* for college admissions. In a 6-2, the court ruled a lower court did not have the authority to set the law aside. The 2006 law bars publicly-funded colleges from granting preferential treatment to any individual or group based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.
