Library Gears Up for Summer Reading Programs

The Mansfield-Richland County Public Library is gearing up to start its Summer Reading Program once again. To help prepare for the summer-long event, library staff held a preview of what's to come this year. The reading program's 2014 theme is "Fizz, Boom, Read," which is a science-themed program with movies, crafts, and other activities.
"What's really important is to keep kids reading all summer long," said Deborah Dubois, the Mansfield-Richland County Public Library Outreach Manager. "That's what helps them keep their skills up and makes them more able to stay on-target when they get back to school in the fall. Kids who don't read during the summer kind of slide back and they have trouble, so it's important for them to keep reading all summer long."
The Mansfield-Richland County Public Library's Summer Reading Program starts June 2.
